To Those Who Care:
Thank you for visiting this website. We appreciate your interest in what
God enables us to do as we follow the command of Jesus Christ (Matt.
28:19,20).
Many years ago the missions outreach began as a yearly trip to the
‘hollers’ of West Virginia. In 2003 we began to stretch from taking
clothes, food and furnishings to WV at Christmas to becoming a local,
national and international beacon. . . a beacon saturated with the love
and com-passion of Jesus Christ.
Not only do the people known as
Sunset Avenue continue the West Virginia trip, but are pouring out to
the poor, orphaned and widowed across the world! We support short-term
missionaries to many countries including Russia, Africa, China, India,
Haiti, Peru, Belize, Brazil, Mongolia and Uruguay.
2005 marked the inauguration of
the first SACOG international mission trip. According to Pastor Boyd
Byerly, who was a team member, this was the first of many life changing
opportunities for the Body of Christ at Sunset.
That prophetic statement continues as a milepost of
encouragement, vision and purpose. Our prayer is that our Attitudes be
so sweet, our Work ethic so effective that our Words will be heard.
Home Missions is vitally important and an integral part of this program.
Men, women, boys and girls from this fellowship build and repair houses,
church buildings, women’s shelters and handicapped ramps making life
more meaningful for each of us. Along with the Men’s Ministry and the
Women’s Ministry, the Missions Committee is actively involved ‘in
looking after our own’. Missions begin here in our ‘Jerusalem’, but must
reach the ‘uttermost parts of the world’.
Jesus commanded that we go and the Missions Committee takes that command
very seriously.
